My name is Jenny, a fifty-year-old writer from Texas who’s worked as a scanning technician, project lead, bookseller, shelver, front of store lead clerk, inventory and merchandising supervisor (not at the same time), editorial assistant and lead bookseller (at the same time), stocker and gift registry specialist (also at the same time… two separate establishments, of course), reporter, tutor, house sitter, boozetender (liquor store clerk) and creative facilitator. I host workshops to help others tap into their creative juices and secret selves… the ones they say they’re not. My purpose in this life is to be a light in the darkness. I know that darkness well and want to help others out of it as quickly as possible.
I am not technologically savvy. AT ALL. I started blogging nearly two decades ago and am a fan of blogger because it’s EASY. WordPress scares the snot out of me, and I bought a WordPress-blog-building package from a former colleague turn profitable blogger because I want to be profitable, too. Trouble is I’m not the most dedicated of chicks, as is evidenced by my employment history. Also, to be perfectly honest, I’m lazy and impatient. So building this site that I’ve owned for almost a year has intimidated me enough because there’s a LOT to learn, and I can talk myself out of anything.
But nobody thinks anything of blogger sites anymore. This is THE WAY. WordPressure.
And I can’t afford to let it sit empty anymore. So my ask of you, dear reader, is to cut me some slack. I will dedicate sixty minutes of my day to building this site. But I can’t handle it being empty. Guilt and shame dine on my dreams daily. Laziness and impatience must be swept aside. I will write daily, because I love writing. It’s not going to be the most aesthetically pleasing page… for a while. But the words will be good. Because there is my greatest strength. HANDS DOWN.
I’m doing a reading challenge right now (it JUST started… feel free to join us!), and I LOVE talking books. I love writing reading responses, so this is how this page will begin.
